Let's talk about how life evolved on Helghan

I'm going straight to the point, so how about we try to come with how the Helghast evolved while on Helghan and what they did. We already know about the fact that many died from lung burn and there were famines along with blockades from the UCN. However, why did they evolve the way they did, and is it actually realistic? We already know the pressures the environment brought upon the people, but how did they adapt. For instance, isn't it that they became stronger in muscular strength along with hairloss a sign that simply their testosterone levels got higher? Or, how about why they became so pale, was it their diet had absolutely little vitamin D? Well, the thing I have on my mind is how did they get such a high population on a deadly planet in only 150 years? Well, is anyone willing to discuss about this?

I think it's more of a mutation then an evolution. As for the population boom, it was most likely government mandated. In communist nations, reproduction was encouraged because the children would become extra hands in labor.

"more of a mutation than an evolution", that's not how it works. Mutations are just random changes in individuals, evolution is the shaping of a population. Mutations can contribute, but regardless they still evolved because of the pressures. A whole massive population doesn't just change to something where they are all similar out of nowhere in only a few generations.

So why were the ISA not affected like the Helghast were in the least bit? the ISA were stranded on Helghan for half a year after Archangel, and yet they showed no sign of uniform pale skin, hair loss, etc. In fact they never showed any sign or negative reaction to Helghan's atmosphere at all. Doesn't make sense to me.

It's because the Helghast terraformed the planet after 150 years living on it, but not until after they evolved to original atmosphere.

Interesting topic. Humans do have a limited capacity to adapt to an environment but mostly thanks to techniques and technologies. Some people have been living in large cities for generations but they does not seem to have "mutated" if we ignore off course the increase in illness due to pollution. It is funny to see in fandom people trying to sort out problems that the game developers left unsolved intentionally or due to "lazyness". The ISA not wearing masks (while someone may also say "combat helmets: are they really necessary?") can be explained because they are meant to be "the good guys" and are needed to "act" in cutscenes and also because the just had access to much better technology and healthcare. About the helghast...pale/diseased skin and baldness may be explained by the "exotic radiation" on the planet and the fact that it is not plaesant to leave your skin exposed on a planet where sand/lighting storms are common. They may have their "vitamins" trough any scifi sludge they may eat (we may presume their planetary dish is some kind of algae/mushrooms/bug soup while just the elite can afford real meat). In the lore i readed about higher gravity so we may suppose that much of the initial deaths were both due to "lungburn" and also to deformations caused by said gravity. We may suppose that Helghast are sturdier and stronger compared to a normal human and as said in the lore they have a better respiratory system and heal a bit faster (if i recall it was also a feature of Hacka in KZ1). About birth rate...check third world countries and the industrial revoution...the shorter the lifespan and the greater the poverty...well you will see birthrate skyrocket.
