Containment City, also called "The New Helghan Slums", is a large slum in New Helghan. The slum was established in 2361.
History[]
Containment City was first inhabited by Vektan citizens who were denied the right of return after construction of The Wall and fled to the city's depths in order to escape persecution from the Helghast.[1] It is believed non-Helghast consists of 43% of the 3 million inhabitants who resided in the slums.[1] The rest of the Helghast inhabitants are migrants from rural areas in search of jobs and opportunities.[1] They are often subjected to slave labor, forcing to work in the loading bays, which oversee city wide and intergalactic container distribution.[1]
The Black Hand terrorist group has a presence in the slums and helped stabilized the region with clandestine support from Helghast agencies.[1] The New Helghan government is believed to have little or no control of Containment City.[1] The Vektan Security Agency also has several deep cover agents and informants in Containment City, although contact with these operatives are limited.[1]
