Damian Ivanov

Former UCA Sergeant turned gun for hire Damian Ivanov was a mercenary who worked for Phantom Talon Corp during the Helghast invasion of Vekta.

Biography[]

Damian was born on Vekta. Not much is known about his life, but he is implied to have been born and raised from a poor family, he had some friction with his siblings and his father, and he was state educated. Damian enlisted in the UCA straight from school. He was promoted to Sergeant within a year, and then was assigned to patrol duty in the AcA cluster, protecting UCN satellite facilities from Helghast sabotage.^[1]

Damian then subsequently distinguished himself in various colonial campaigns, including the unrest in Delta Pavonis, where he again engaged Helghast forces. He was awarded commendation for Gallantry in Combat.^[1] In 2350, he was wounded in action at Procyon, where many of his unit lost their lives. After recovering from his injuries, Damian received official reprimand following public criticism of the ISA High Command for "appeasement" of the Helghast. As a result, he resigned from the Army later that year.^[1]

Damian then accepted a contract as a mercenary with the Phantom Talon Corp, leading to long-standing association with some of its operatives, such as Arran Danner, who fought alongside Damian in the Gyre Skirmishes and on covert operations across the Alpha Centauri system from 2351 to 2356.^[1]

During the Helghast invasion of Vekta, Damien accompanied Danner on a mission to rescue ISA Admiral Alex Grey, who had been captured by the Helghast, in Diortem. Upon successfully locating the Admiral, Ivanov briefly detoured to rescue a group of ISA prisoners who were about to be executed. After meeting up with Danner he carried the badly wounded Grey to extraction as Danner fought off Helghast forces.

Afterwards Damien joined Danner on their attempt to retrieve transmission codes from a downed Helghast cruiser. After securing the codes, Damien and Danner placed explosive charges to destroy the cruiser. However a fail safe was triggered that trapped Ivanov. Knowing there's no time for him to get out, Ivanov told Danner to leave him behind, dying in the blast as the cruiser explodes.
