As an undergraduate, Massar hospitalized several colleagues by exposing them to a dangerous pathogen. Her motive was to prove the validity of her research, which at the time others disputed. Massar escaped prosecution and imprisonment by agreeing to work for the VSA's science division.

She does not take orders well and requires maximum supervision. However, this does not relate to her scientific goals as she is determined and motivated in the execution of her assignments. Reports suggest she is developing an admiration for the Helghast. To what extent is not known at this time.
