Vekta is an Eden class world with atmospheric and geological conditions almost identical to Earth. The planet is therefore of high strategic importance to humans and surrounding pro-Vektan colonies.

It was settled in 2129 by the Helghast Corporation and became instrumental in the growth of inter-stellar commerce and colonial development. Earth began its illegal occupation in 2199, whereupon the indigenous Helghast population suffered brutal methods of ethnic cleansing and forced exile.

2204 saw resettlement of the Helghast to the planet Helghan. Due to this forced exile, the Helghast population still suffer respiratory problems, and skin allergies, with the old and the young being particularly prone to seizures.
