Built in conjunction with the development of Vekta City, the Dam took approximately five years to complete and impounds an area of water known as the Strait of Vekta. Since the division of the city, 35 hydro-electric power stations are still operational within the Vektan region and provide energy for public and private facilities throughout the city. The Helghast discarded hydropower in favor of the far higher petrusite yield. Almost every aspect of the dam's original structure has been modified.

After completion of Scolar Visari's memorial statue, the site was allocated a permanent base of military personnel. The dam's crest remains open to the public within the Vektan half of the city and continues to be closely monitored.
