The M244-A3 is a weapon featured in Killzone.
Design[]
The M224-A3 Heavy Support Weapon is the third model in the M224 line. It is is a gyro-mounted support weapon featuring a large 7.62 x 51 mm chain-gun, as well as an underslung missile launcher attachment, and is used for similar purposes as its' lighter counterpart, the M224-A1 Light Machine Gun, and mounted counterpart, the M224 MOMAG. Like all chainguns, the M224-A3 is an externally powered, chain driven twin-barreled weapon in which the firing action of one barrel operates the mechanism of the other. It provides a much faster rate of fire for lower mechanical wear than a single-barrel weapon.
The M224 has a servo-powered gyro-stabilization harness system that enables it to be carried by a single trooper and ensures that recoil is kept to a minimum, in effect turning the operator into a walking tank capable of countering any threat. That being said, its massive bulk and recoil have been known to cause severe and paralyzing spinal problems over the course of only a mere week if the operator does not meet certain physical requirements. Only the toughest and most resilient troopers are capable of using the weapon for any length of time without suffering any physical drawbacks.
