The StA-2 Battle Pistol is a weapon featured in Killzone 3. It is only featured in multiplayer.

Specifications

The StA-2 is a grenade launcher-like pistol that increases grenade storage capacity and fires grenades farther than a soldier could ever throw. A modified variant to the less effective BP-02 Pup Grenade Launcher with a slicker reloading design, it proved to become a mainstay for most soldiers fighting in the Second Extrasolar War.

Multiplayer

The StA-2 is used by the Engineer and Infiltrator class. The weapon functions like a miniature grenade launcher. Grenades fired from the StA-2 will immediately explode when directly impacting any live or combustible target. On missing or when fired into the target's vicinity, the grenade will simply bounce around with a 1.5 timer counting down before exploding. While lacking a straight ahead range, arcing the barrel of the StA-2 upwards can compensate for this, allowing fired grenades to be launched over greater distances and over obstacles. The StA-2's unique crosshairs are designed to help players judge the firing arc of their shots over long distances.

A direct hit, or very close range detonation from a grenade, is enough to take out any players not using Skills to increase their Armor and multiple shots can easily take down enemies caught slightly further out. The StA-2's downsides are its small explosive range and slow rate of fire and total ammunition.
