Lucas is unmasked by Saric.

Saric: Vekta has let you down. Her power is waning. She is inferior.

Saric repeatedly shocks Lucas.

Saric: Take this opportunity to reflect on your behavior. I hope you will prove to be more helpful when I return.

Saric shocks Lucas again. Saric leaves the room and Lucas passes out. Lucas comes to and sees Echo.

Echo: We haven't got much time. I'm not going to harm you. The attack on Vekta had nothing to do with us. I want to end this. Not start another war. Now tell me who is Tyran working with?

Lucas: Untie me.

Echo: You're not in a position to bargain. Who is it?

Lucas: Stahl... Jorhan Stahl. He's on Helghan... you gave him Massar, she's building him a weapon. Vektans, half-breeds. Everyone dies. Including you.

Hera Visari and her guards enters the room.

Visari: You were under orders. I expected you to follow them.

Echo: How could you? What Massar did on that ship was an abomination. She deserves punishment. I'll kill myself if I have to.

Visari: Please, spare me the melodrama. You're talking about things you cannot possibly understand.

Echo: What has Stahl promised you? Power?

Visari: He has promised us a home. And the survival of our people. At least we have the chance to negotiate from a position of strength. As we've always wanted. As we deserve.

Echo: Not like this. Have you forgotten the blood that runs through my veins?

Visari: How dare you question me?

Echo: I would be killed no matter who is targeted.

Visari: Be quiet at once!

Echo: Mother, please I -

Visari slaps Echo.

Visari: Never call me that. You make no demands of me. Guards! I'm having you sent away... where you'll be safe.

A guard takes Echo out of the room.

Echo: Wait! NO, MOTHER PLEASE, DON'T DO THIS!

Visari turns to Lucas as Saric returns.

Visari: How curious to think we were once the same race. And now you're the enemy. I shouldn't feel anything. But I do. [Turn to Saric] Keep him alive.

Visari exits the room. Saric resume shocking Lucas.

July 6th 2390 - 9:46pm

Helghan Sector - Unknown

Unknown (radio): Marshal! Can you hear me? Wake up.

Lucas: Wha... where am I?

Unknown (radio): You've been moved.

Lucas: Sinclair... I have to warn him.

Unknown (radio): No. There's no time -- just follow my instructions and I'll get you out of here. I'll protect you. There's one shot to get you out. This is it.

Lucas: Where are you?

Unknown (radio): I'm close. Listen, we haven't got time for this. You need to do as I say...

Unknown (radio): Wait -- you'll never make the jump... Gimme a second to hack the storage controls. There. Now move. Climb across the containers. You'll have to take a running jump at it.

Unknown (radio): I'll disable the cameras as you come up on them. Just keep moving forward -- I won't be able to keep them down for long.

Unknown (radio): Those are just maintenance drones -- they're harmless. You're lucky to be alive. They worked you hard. Just watch your step.

Unknown (radio): You're not the only one trying to get out of here, Marshal. Down here it's a different world. The screams you can hear. The refugees Vekta kicked out are being welcomed home.

Unknown (radio): Wait! Guard up ahead... on the right. Go left -- it's clear. Go right here. Stop. There's a patrol up ahead. Hide in that container.

Unknown (radio): Wait, I'll tell you when to move. Trust me. He won't find you.

Guard: I hear we have a Shadow Marshal in Detention Area 7.

Unknown (radio): Now, go. Don't get too close. You're in no condition to take him on.

Unknown (radio): Hide in that container up ahead.

Unknown (radio): You're doing good, Marshal.

Unknown (radio): Go, now's your chance!

Unknown (radio): You need to climb.

Guard: Hey, what are you d-

Lucas: It'd help if I knew where I was going.

Unknown (radio): I'm helping you get out.

Lucas: That's what I'm finding hard to believe.

Unknown (radio): I don't take pleasure in killing my own people to save you, Marshal. So if you don't believe my words, then believe my actions.

Unknown (radio): You got two more guards up ahead. I've accessed their radio frequency. It's sporadic, but I'll relay what I can.

Unknown (radio): Keep going.

Unknown (radio): You need to climb.

Unknown (radio): Marshal -- I headed your way -- the area's way too hot. I'm going off comms.

Lucas: Wait! Where am I going? Are you there?

Security PA: Attention all guards. We have a Code Red in Sector 7. Possible escapee.

A pair of security troopers spots Lucas.

Guard: Don't move! Get those hands up.

Echo jumps behind them and takes them out.

Lucas: You make a habit of disobeying orders.

Echo: I should have never handed over Massar. As long as she's alive, they'll use her. Both sides. We have to move. They find you out here you're dead. They've got a curfew down here. We need to get off the streets. It's not going to take long for them to figure out what's happened. We need to get as far away as possible before they do. There's an old smugglers route we can use.

Echo and Lucas boards a lift.

Echo: On the surface it's not far to the Wall, but we'll be exposed. They'll be sending everything after us.

Lucas: The Vektan half of you. Do you know him?

Echo: I learned very early on not to ask that question. I know what I am, Kellan. I'm not ashamed. All that matters to me is my people.

Lucas: You could help your people, Visari could as well. She seems more interested in war.

Echo: Visari is doing this because she doesn't think she has a choice. If you attack, she will not back down. And why should she? She'll be defending her people, their home. This is all we have. You have to tell your people to stand down. We can't let this happen, Kellan. Not again. It's innocent people who pay with their lives. We can't waste anymore time. Let's get you up and running.

Their lift reach the surface.

Echo: We can't waste anymore time. Let's get you up and running. I've uplinked you into the ComSec network. You'll be able to hack automata and designate targets. Put a marker on that grate and we'll see if it works.

Lucas marked the grate.

Echo: You're linked. If you need cover fire, just mark a target and leave the rest to me.

A Spider Mine exits the vent.

Echo: Let's test the hack. Try it on this spider-mine.

Echo grabs hold of the Spider Mine.

Echo: Now, hack this spider bot.

Echo throws the hacked Spider Mine into the vent.

Echo: Now move it to the door controls and detonate.

Spider Mine detonates.

Echo: Good. Use them when you need to.

Echo: Alright, hack another one -- use the window -- get it to other side of the door.

Echo hands a pistol to Lucas.

Echo: You're gonna need this. Remember why we're doing this. Sinclair trusts you. He's the one that you need to convince. The VSA are running things, Vekta will follow his lead.

Lucas: What makes you think you can trust me?

Echo: I can't. But I know you don't want your people to die and I can trust that. Keep heading for the Wall. I'll take the higher ground and cover you. Tell me what to shoot.

Echo (radio): I'll be in overwatch. Mark anything you need help dealing with. We need to get to Containment Center 37. Follow my lead and we'll get through this.

Echo (radio): They're retracting the bridge! You need it to get across!

Echo (radio): I can't override the system. The controls need to be destroyed. Hack a spider mine -- it's the only way to open up a route to the other side.

Guard: Stay where you are.

Archer: Please... it's my daughter, she-

Guard: What is this, Archer? Insolence? Graffiti?

Archer: It... it wasn't me--

Guard #2: -- You are in violation of municipal code 457, defacing government property. Code 47-B, curfew violation.

Archer: It's my kid... she's got lung burn. I went out for medicine.

If Lucas saves Archer.

Archer: Thanks... You're the gut they're looking for, aren't you?

Archer opens his stash to Lucas.

Archer: Here. It's not much, but maybe it'll help. I hope you've got some friends in this town.

An ATAC appears.

Echo (radio): ATAC! Do not engage them. Just find the Containment Center.

Echo (radio): The Wall's not far, but they know you're out. There's going to be a lot more patrols from here on in.

Echo (radio): Watch it, Kellan. There's a security team below you.

Echo (radio): I can't make it to your position. I'll find another way around. I'll meet you on the other side.

Echo (radio): It makes a change, a Vektan seeing how we really live. This is the truth, Kellan. This is what your sanctions do. These are the people they hurt. All you're doing is helping to breed a new generation of extremists.

Civilian: I let my wife die in agony, because of what? Because I couldn't admit that I'm a coward. Because I couldn't admit that this place doesn't care about us at all and we mean nothing.

Suicidal Man: I'm not gonna wait to die...I choose...I choose...me!

Suicidal Man's wife: Don't do this! I love you!

If Lucas intervenes; he takes the gun and punches the suicidal man.

Suicidal Man's wife: Thank you!

Woman: I don't care who you are, just help. Somebody please help us!

If Lucas gives the adrenaline to the woman.

Lucas: This is all I have.

Woman: Thank you!

Echo (radio): Meet me at the top of the elevator. Those containers are dangerous. Find a control panel, release the crane maglock and you'll be able to shoot the entire box loose. Or just mark it and I'll take the shot.

Echo (radio): Mark the container. I can shoot it for you.

Echo (radio): Kellan, there's a large attack drone incoming. Don't try and fight it head on, you'll get cut to pieces! If you got EMP grenades -- use them.

Echo (radio): It's stunned! Hit it now!

Echo (radio): It's taking damage, keep going!

Echo (radio): It's almost down!

Lucas destroys attack drone.

Echo (radio): Good work, Kellan! It's destroyed!

Echo (radio): There's an elevator just in front of you.

Lucas access the elevator.

Echo (radio): Wait! I'm getting something on the radio... Multiple fire teams coming down to that level. Find cover!

After Lucas exits the loading bay.

Echo (radio): I'm risking everything to help you. Are you going to convince your side to stand down or not?

Lucas: Look across the Wall, our city is still smoldering.

Echo (radio): I told you, we...

Lucas: Blame the Black Hand all you want. Vekta doesn't want the truth, it wants justice.

Echo (radio): At what cost? You've never faced annihilation before, we have. Trust me, it's not worth it.

Lucas: People like us don't get to make that call.

Echo (radio): Why? Why do we let others make it for us? Why do we let them throw us away? Our lives mean nothing to them.

Echo (radio): Dammit. I just lost my cloak charge. I'm going to have to get through to the control room without it. Meet me at the transit loading... and don't shoot anything unless I mark it -- or we'll have every unit on us.

Lucas meets up with Echo.

Echo (radio): Take this. They're locking everything down. We won't get across on foot. I'm gonna make a break for the transit controls. Cover me. I'll call out targets.

Echo (radio): Take out that spotlight.

After Lucas shoots out the spotlight.

Echo (radio): Hold fire. There's teams moving in. They've got attack drones escorting them. Don't engage them. They'll have support teams nearby. The only way through this is hitching a ride on a container.

Echo (radio): Hurry! Take the shot!

Echo (radio): Hold your fire. It looks like they're going to split up. There's a camera on the walkway and those two guards. Take them out.

Echo (radio): Good shooting. I need to get over to those controls.

Echo (radio): I just saw a guard in the tower. Take him out before he spots me.

Echo (radio): Target down.

Echo (radio): I'm at the controls. I'm going to send a container over to you.

Echo (radio): ATACs! Find cover inside the container! Hurry! Stay out of sight.

Echo (radio): You're clear of the ATAC. But guards just moved into the tower in front of you. Deal with them and then push up.

Echo (radio): Okay -- hang on, I'm sending over the container.

Echo (radio): Dammit. There's more guards just ahead of you. You're going to have to take them out. I can't stop the container. Hurry! Take the shot!

Echo: Hold on to that. And look out for snipers.

Lucas: We like to think it's paradise where we live, it's amazing what you'll do to protect that.

Echo: It's lies, Kellan. Vektans are easily blinded. Here we suffer from a different problem. We live in despair. Surrounded by chaos and violence. We are not blind, we know that. We know the truth. Tell me...which one of us is freer? Are we not both slaves?

Lucas: I'll do it. I'll try and get them to stand down.

Echo: That's all I ask.

After the container stops.

Echo: Nice shooting, Vektan. But I'm gonna need my rifle back. Thanks.

Lucas: What you said, about killing Massar. You mean it?

Echo: I couldn't live with myself otherwise. If you were honest, neither could you. Come on, it's not much further.

Echo (radio): I have to get over to the control tower. See if you can find a way to disable the Security System. Maybe there's a spider mine around here. Stand by until I get in position.

Echo (radio): I'm ready. Mark your targets.

Echo (radio): They're pouring in reinforcements! Find cover, I'm almost there.

Echo: I'm at the control room. They're adjusting their quadrant. They're going to be here any second. The antenna is down... We need to get power back up. You're going to have to get a new capacitor into the array. I saw one at the back of the room. Dammit. It's the capacitor outside -- at the base of the tower. The antenna array is to the right. Hurry.

After starting up the antenna.

Lucas: Antenna's up and running.

Echo (radio): Good work! Communication systems are up. Give me some time to take control of the ATACs!"

Echo (radio): I've almost got this. Hold on for a bit longer.

Echo (radio): It's working! They're engaging them! The reprogram isn't going to last! We need to get you out of here! Target the walkers! The ground troops will pull back!

Echo (radio): I've tied in the A-TAC's targeting into your marking system. Mark targets you want engaged!

Echo (radio): There's more attack walkers incoming!

Echo (radio): They're falling back! Get up, Kellan now, before they regroup.

Echo: Come on. Now's our chance. Hop up on this A-TAC and I'll pilot you across the Wall.

Lucas: Seriously?

Echo: Unless you have a better idea? You have to convince Sinclair to stand down.

Lucas: What about Stahl? Massar?

Echo: Give me 48 hours. Massar will be dead. Without her Stahl is finished, he's got nothing but a dead planet. We can avoid war. You know that we can. I think you're the first person to ride on one of these. Don't be the last.

Lucas boards ATAC.

Echo (radio): I'm losing the uplink! The drone is going down! Brace for impact!

Lucas crashes into no man's land.

Echo (radio): Keep moving! The border is just ahead!

VSA Trooper: Hold fire! Hold fire! Watch your sectors!

VSA Trooper #2: ATAC inbound! I'm engaging!

VSA Trooper #3: Traversing fire! There's someone coming out of that drone!

VSA Trooper #4: Cease fire! Cease fire! He's one of ours!

VSA Trooper #5: Over here! Run!

VSA Trooper: Roger!

VSA Trooper: Cover him!

Echo (radio): Remember what I said about Visari. Make sure Sinclair knows.

Lucas reaches the landing pad.

Dropship Pilot: Sir! You okay? Can I get you anything?

Lucas: Get me Sinclair.
