The Destroyer is the ninth chapter of Killzone Shadow Fall.
Plot[]
Kellan and Echo make their way into the canyon base. Upon entering, the duo discover a massive fleet of warships in dry-dock, revealing that Stahl is preparing his planned invasion of Vekta. Kellan tries to warn Sinclair, but gets no response. Making their way to a security control tower, Echo tries to learn the location of the weapon. As she does this, Kellan engages a massive Helghast force led by Tyran. Eventually, Tyran himself joins the battle, protected by a mobile shield generator, resulting in a long, climactic fight until Tyran is left incapacitated. Echo then demands the Black Hand leader information on how deactivate the weapon, but Tyran refuses and he is executed by Echo.
Kellan then finally regains contact with Sinclair and tries to warn him to abort the ISA assault on Stahl's base. But Sinclair refused to hear his warning, stating that Kellan has lost his way due to Echo's influence. Kellan and Echo use Tyran's dropship to find and stop Stahl.
As they reached the surface, they witness the ISA begin their assault on Stahl's base. Then, Stahl activates Massar's weapon, releasing a red radiation cloud from the base, engulfing all the ISA ships and sending crashing into the ground while leaving the Helghast ships intact. Echo suddenly loses control of the dropship which sends Kellan to fall into the gravity well below Stahl's base. Kellan floats his way up into the base and battle through Helghast soldiers to reach Stahl's sanctum. Stahl monitors Kellan's progress and speaks to him through the intercoms, stating that killing him (Stahl) will only delay the inevitable.
Kellan finally confronts Stahl, who is strapped to a life support system due to his advanced age (and presumably due to Petrusite exposure). Stahl claims that the Terracide happened because the weak had to be destroyed, and that it is Vekta's turn to share the same fate. Suddenly, a gunshot comes from behind Kellan, killing Stahl. Kellan turns around and find Sinclair, who then shoots him. Sinclair tells to a mortally wounded Kellan that he intends on using Massar's weapon to eradicate the Helghast. He then apologizes to Kellan that he couldn't be the person to protect Kellan before he kills him.
