The United Colonial Nations Senate is the legislative branch of the United Colonial Nations that govern Earth and to make rulings of the UCN's decisions regarding its colonial dominions.

In 2155, the Helghan Administration made an offer to the UCN to outright purchase the Alpha Centauri system. The Senate made the motion to pass the Helghan/Vektan purchase as the UCN needed the funds to compensate for their very expensive colonial endeavors.[1] Decades later, however, the UCN grew concerned of the Helghan Administration's domination over star travel and trade, areas which were traditionally under UCN control. As a result, the UCN passed new regulations that rescinded several privileges granted to the Helghan Administration that were part of the Helghan/Vektan purchase.[1] This provoked the Helghan Administration to secede from the UCN and the instigation of the First Extrasolar War.[1]
After the Helghan Administration was defeated in the war, the Senate deemed the Helghan colonists to be too unruly to ever settle comfortably within the UCN and allowed ISA Alpha Centauri to administrate Vekta to prevent future unrest.[1]
