The VC1 Flamethrower is a special weapon manufactured by Visari Corporation and introduced for the first time in Killzone: Liberation. The flamethrower eventually returns in Killzone 2 as well as Killzone 3, where it is exclusively used by support troops such as the Pyro Troopers.
Design[]
It projects an ignited stream of flammable liquid at high pressure, allowing the user to arc the stream behind cover and splash nearby enemies; the flammable liquid itself consists of low-octane gasoline and an unidentified component indigenous to Helghan.
Strategy[]
It is very useful for clearing enemies out from behind cover or from bunkers, but careless use can be dangerous to the user. Players should take advantage of the VC1's ability to quickly incapacitate Helghast, but be wary that a brief spray may not result in a kill.
Trivia[]
- Much like the StA3, the design seems to be based on the German MG42, and the detachable fuel canister seems to be inspired by the flamethrower from the 1986 sci-fi/horror/action movie Aliens.
- The VC1 Flamethrower is effective against Colonel Radec. Pouring fire on Radec will disable him and cause him to burn even when his camouflage is activated, effectively revealing his position.
- In Killzone 2, the VC1 Flamethrower is exclusively available in the campaign. However, this weapon was eventually featured in the multiplayer following the release of the Napalm and Cordite downloadable content.
- In Killzone 2 Multiplayer, the VC1 Flamethrower can be found in Suljeva Cliffside, where it is strategically placed right in the middle of the map. This means that one has to rush and pick it up before the other players, making it a highly perillous move as the player will inevitably find himself under enemy fire.
- It is worth pointing out that only one flamethrower is available in the map.
- In Sulljeva Cliffside, the VC1 Flamethrower can also be picked up by bots, should the player be in offline multiplayer.
- The reason why the VC1 Flamethrower cannot be unlocked and equipped by the player in multiplayer is unknown.
