The VC8 is a three-barreled side arm developed by Visari Corporation, holding one shell in each barrel. It is great for close combat, but lacks lethality at extended ranges.

Campaign

The VC8 is limited to only three shotgun shells, but is very deadly against enemies at close range. Although the VC8 is initially found on the bodies of defeated Helghast soldiers, throughout the latter half of the campaign, it will become the default sidearm in most sections.

The shotgun pistol has the same firing speed as the M4 but because the VC8 fires shotgun shells, it is capable of inflicting a much higher level of damage. The extra damage becomes especially useful against heavily armored enemies at near the end of the campaign.

Multiplayer

The VC8 is used by the Engineer and Marksman class. The weapon suffers no accuracy penalty for firing on the move or for continuously firing so it can be extremely effective when strafing around targets or clearing small groups of enemies at close range. The weapon's major drawbacks is its low clip rounds and minimal firing rang which requires players to fire the VC8 at closer targets.

The VC8 is essentially the same gun in Killzone 3. While it is easily the strongest firearm, its power is offset by a weak range, poor accuracy, low ammo capacity.

• The VC8 Shotgun Pistol seems to be inspired by the World War II era Japanese Type 90 signal pistol but with a longer barrel.
• Considering its short range compared to the other shotgun it can be somewhat considered to be the sawn-off shotgun of the series (at least in function).
