The Vale Research Institute is a Vektan scientific organization.
History[]
The Vale Research Institute has been secretly in league with the Vektan Security Agency in developing biological weapons designed to kill the Helghast. The VRI conducted highly unethical experiments on Helghast migrant workers, who were hired and lied to participating in a "medical trial", that were taken to off-planet research laboratories. The high numbers of the missing workers soon gained notice by New Helghan officials.[1] A migrant worker managed to escape from a VSA black site and told of his ordeal to the New Helghan public.[2]
Following the scuttling of the Cassandra, the VRI publicly covered up the cause of the ship's destruction by stating that the "unmanned" ship had finished collecting masses of research data from Alpha Centauri B.[3] The VRI also covered up Dr. Hillary Massar's defection to the Helghast by publishing her obituary which falsely stated that she had died during a freak laboratory accident.[4]
